Delayed double cut control

I have always liked the double cut control for its simplicity and directness. My only objection to it is that it is usually done at the wrong time, immediately after the spectators card is returned. That is when the spectators attention is at its height.

Below is a video of a variation to the double undercut control.

In the normal technique you take a left little finger break above the spectators selection when they return the card to the deck. You then perform a double cut to bring the card to the top.

Start of dribble onto spectators card
Note where the dribbled cards hit the lower packet
Top cards slid forward right hand about to come over to square up and take the break.
Right thumb about to lift on in-jog so the left little finger and take over the break and side jog the card above the selection
side jogging the card
Dribbling to the table. In this frame you can see the corner of the side jogged card in my right hand
Finish of the table dribble. Look how fair it looks.
Pick up off the table. The right hand picks up from the ends so the side jogged card remains side-jogged.
All that is left is to double cut the deck. Here I am cutting to the break. When done, the selection will be on top

What I do instead is when the spectator returns their card to the middle of the deck, I make certain the lower half of the deck (with their card) is squared up and I dribble the remaining half on top. By tilting the right hand cards so the front is lower than the rear, the front edge of the cards will hit the lower half in-jogged and that in-jog will remain as the rest of the cards are dribbled. The left hand tilts downward at the completion of the dribble and the top cards will slide forward. Note how open the left hand is at the completion of the dribble.

The right hand comes to the deck to square the cards up and easily lifts up on the in-jog with the right thumb and takes a break above the selection with the left little finger.

Now immediately the left little finger side jogs the card above it as the right hand takes the cards. The right hand then dribbles the cards to the table. The side jogged card will remain side jogged.

When the right hand picks up the deck from the table it grasps the cards from the ends and places them in the left hand. I push the cards against the base of the left thumb to straighten them, but leaves the side jogged card side jogged.

The left fingers easily find the side jogged card and takes a break below it. Now I perform the double undercut to bring the selection to the top of the deck.
