Projects

A few software projects from my workshop. Open an app, explore the simulator player’s guides, or follow the installation guide to keep the PWAs on your phone or computer.

01 / Movement

Workout Tracker

A touch-friendly workout log for routines, sets, reps, and weights. Pick up where you left off with your previous session as a guide.

Subscriber account required. Administrators also have access.

03 / A daily puzzle

Griddle

A daily 5 × 5 word-grid puzzle: find five words across, with five more running down for extra clues.

Play / Install Griddle ↗

Opens the app. Then follow the PWA installation steps below to add it to your device.

04 / Pacific air combat

Aces: Pacific Air War

A retro, arcade-style WWII air-combat game set over the Pacific in 1942–1944. Fly for the US Navy or Imperial Japan in twelve aircraft, from the Wildcat and Zero to torpedo and dive bombers. Missions range from dogfights and fleet defence to strafing runs and attacks on ships.

Read the Aces Player’s Guide ↗

Learn the controls, meet the aircraft, and work through training flights and combat missions.

05 / The skies over Britain

Battle of Britain: Summer 1940

A retro, arcade-style air-combat game over south-east England and the Channel. Fly for the RAF or Luftwaffe in eight aircraft, including the Spitfire, Hurricane, Bf 109, and Stuka. Defend convoys, scramble from airfields, escort bombers, hunt U-boats, or fly a night raid on London. You can also take over a bomber’s gun positions.

Read the Battle of Britain Pilot’s Guide ↗

The guide covers flying, combat, crew stations, aircraft, and the objectives and tactics for each mission.

06 / From cockpit to racetrack

F1 Simulator

A Formula 1 racing simulator with five real circuits: Monaco, Monza, Silverstone, Spa, and Suzuka. Chase a ghost of the real 2024 pole lap in Hot Lap mode, or race up to eleven AI opponents with tyre wear, pit stops, and a race engineer on the radio. Driving assists help you get started, and seventeen car designs span classic and modern F1 looks.

Read the F1 Simulator Driver’s Guide ↗

Find setup instructions, controls, circuit guides, driving tips, and advice on tyres and race strategy.

07 / Knotwork around a ring

Celtic Knot Designer

Design Celtic knotwork and fret patterns for ring bands and closed panels. Add breaks to turn the woven strands, adjust their style and width, and preview your design as a 3D ring. Set the ring size, rims, and metal, then export Blender code to build the model.

08 / Knotwork in any outline

Celtic Knot Shapes

Fill an SVG outline—a cross, shield, circle, or letter—with Celtic knotwork. Edit the weave, choose ribbon, rounded, double, or carved strands, and inspect the result in 3D. Download an STL for printing or casting, or send the design to Blender for further modelling.

09 / A little Unix nostalgia

Fortune — WordPress Plugin

Inspired by Ken Arnold’s classic Unix fortune program, this small WordPress plugin displays a random saying from my collection of 17,308 fortunes. Add [fortune] to a page or post, or use [fortune wisdom] to choose randomly from fortunes containing a word. Matching ignores letter case; quoted phrases such as [fortune "project manager"] work too.

Download Fortune 1.0.0 (ZIP) ↓

In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then install and activate Fortune. Add a Shortcode block containing [fortune]. The fortunes file is included; no external service is required.

How to install a PWA

A Progressive Web App (PWA) runs in your browser and can have its own icon on your home screen or computer. You do not need an app store. Open Workout Tracker or Griddle first, then:

iPhone or iPad: Open the app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. If offered, leave Open as Web App enabled, then tap Add.

Android: Open the app in Chrome, open the three-dot menu, choose Install and create shortcut → Install, and confirm. Some versions show Add to home screen or Install app instead.

Computer (Chrome): Click the install icon in the address bar if shown, or open the three-dot menu → Cast, save, and share → Install page as app. Follow the prompts.

Once installed, open it from its new icon. You can also keep using it in the browser. Workout Tracker still requires a Subscriber login and an internet connection to load and save workouts.
