CARD TRICKS BY BELT LEVEL

I asked an AI to develop a web page for practicing card tricks and techniques. The page lets you randomly pick a trick/technique. This is the list the AI came up with. I have posted the web page at https://robertjwallace.com/cardtrick/tricks.html. I don’t agree with all of what the AI came up with and will be editing the tricks. Feel free to play with the page and if you have tricks you want to add, let me know.

PROGRESSION NOTES:

White → Blue: Focus on getting comfortable with the deck before adding sleights. Master misdirection and presentation first.

Blue → Green: Don’t rush the double lift. It’s the foundation of 90% of card tricks. Practice until it’s truly invisible.

Green → Brown: Start thinking about routining multiple effects. Learn to cull smoothly during natural handling.

Brown → Black: At this level, focus on perfection, not quantity. One perfectly executed technique is worth ten sloppy ones.

Black Belt: You should be able to perform professional-level magic. Focus on creating your own effects and developing your unique style.

PRACTICE RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • White Belt: Practice 30-60 minutes daily focusing on presentation
  • Blue Belt: Practice 1 hour daily, 80% on double lift smoothness
  • Green Belt: Practice 1-2 hours daily, work on combining sleights
  • Brown Belt: Practice 2+ hours daily, focus on naturalness and speed
  • Black Belt: Practice 2-3+ hours daily, perfect every nuance

Remember: A white belt trick performed with expert presentation and timing will fool people more than a black belt technique performed poorly. Always prioritize smooth, natural handling over difficulty.
