That gives you a pack of 23 cards. Place those on top of the deck and you are ready to perform.

False shuffle ending up with the top stock still in place. Get a break below the stock and cut it to the table, telling the spectator that you want three piles of cards. Let them cut the remainder of the deck in half, giving you three piles.

Tell the spectator to shuffle each pile and the have them take the pile that is your stack and cut it a few times. When they are satisfied they look at the top card of that packet.

Have them take the entire packet and place it face down on either of the other two.

Then take the last packet and place it on top.

Have them single cut the deck several times and then have them do a single riffle shuffle.

Have them cut the deck again.

To find their card all you have to do is spread the cards face up and look for the diamond or low value heart that has a long string of black cards or King, Queen or Jack of Hearts, to the left of the Diamond or low value heart. For example, in the photo below the spectator’s card is the three of hearts.

What I do usually is I ribbon spread the cards face up and quickly spot the card. I flip the spread over, divide it in halve and give it another shuffle. I can then reveal the card in any manner I choose.

Additional thoughts

A simple false shuffle is to take the deck face up and overhand shuffle a little over one half of the deck and then throw the remainder behind the face up cards, keeping the stack on top when the deck is turned face down.

If you want to you could use a breather crimp and let the spectator cut off the top stack. It is a little risky, but with a crimp it can be pretty safe.

You could also use a “magicians choice” to let them pick which pile they want to use. A simple technique is to have them choose one of the piles. If they don’t choose the stacked pile, just have them shuffle the one they choose. Then have them shuffle the others. If they choose the stack go ahead have have them shuffle and look at a card.

This is based on “Silent Transmission Telephone Mystery” from Jon Racherbaumer’s “Artful Dodges of Eddie Fields.” It uses a setup but it is easy to remember and perform.

[7,159,142

post-7746","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-magic","category-self-working","category-tricks
["GET
