Se baraja una baraja de cartas y un voluntario colabora en el experimento. Tras algunas inversiones aparentemente aleatorias de las cartas, el n\u00famero de cartas invertidas en la baraja coincide exactamente con la predicci\u00f3n. Este es un efecto de Bob Hummer y funciona por s\u00ed solo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Performance Instructions:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Making the Prediction:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The performer writes a number on a piece of paper (preferably between 18 and 30).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">This prediction is folded and handed to an audience member to keep until the end of the trick.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Creating Two Piles:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The deck is shuffled freely.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The performer asks a volunteer to <strong>cut off about 12 or so cards<\/strong> from the top of the deck and place them in a pile on the table.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The volunteer then <strong>cuts off another 12 or so cards<\/strong> and places them in a second pile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The rest of the deck is set aside for now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Reversing Cards (While the Performer\u2019s Back is Turned):<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The performer turns around so they cannot see what happens next.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The volunteer chooses <strong>any number of cards<\/strong> from <strong>anywhere<\/strong> in one of the piles and turns them face-up (they don\u2019t have to be the top cards).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">They then <strong>turn over the same number of cards<\/strong> from anywhere in the second pile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Both piles are squared up neatly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Reassembling the Deck:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The volunteer picks <strong>either<\/strong> of the two piles and places it on top of the main deck.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">That deck is then handed back to the performer. The other small pile is still squared up on the table.  The performer reminds the spectators that the performer has no way of knowing the number of cards that are face up. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The Secret Move:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The performer takes the deck and secretly moves a specific number of cards:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Holding the deck behind their back, they count down the exact number of cards they wrote in their prediction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">These cards are then turned over and placed <strong>face-up somewhere inside the deck<\/strong>. The performer brings out the deck.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The remaining pile (left on the table) is placed on top of the deck.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The Reveal:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The assistant deals  through the deck, dealing face down cards to one pile and face up cards to another.  As the deal they count the face up cards to arrive at the total number of reversed cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The prediction paper is opened and\u2014amazingly\u2014the number written matches the number of reversed cards in the deck!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why the Trick Works: The Key Move Explained<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">At the moment the magician takes the deck, there are <strong>X reversed cards<\/strong> in the deck (and X reversed cards in the pile on the table). Now, let&#8217;s <strong>carefully analyze what happens when the magician takes &#8220;N&#8221; cards from the top and flips them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: State of the Deck Before the Secret Move<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">At this point, the deck consists of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>X face-up cards<\/strong> spread somewhere throughout the deck the performer holds (because the spectator reversed &#8220;X&#8221; cards in each of two piles). The small pile on the table has X cards also.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The magician has written a prediction, &#8220;P&#8221;, which is <strong>greater than 2X<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Now the magician secretly <strong>takes the top &#8220;N&#8221; cards<\/strong> from the deck (where <strong>N is the prediction number<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2: What is in the &#8220;N&#8221; Cards?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">These &#8220;N&#8221; cards contain a mix of face-up and face-down cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>X of those N cards are face-up<\/strong>, meaning the remaining <strong>N &#8211; X cards are face-down<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">At this point:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>X face-up cards<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>(N &#8211; X) face-down cards<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3: The Magician Reverses These &#8220;N&#8221; Cards<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Now the magician <strong>flips the entire N-card block over<\/strong> before reinserting them into the deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">El <strong>X face-up cards<\/strong> in this block now become <strong>face-down<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">El <strong>N &#8211; X face-down cards<\/strong> now become <strong>face-up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">After reinserting these reversed cards into the deck, the new total number of face-up cards becomes (N-X). You then add the X face-up cards from the small packet on the table. Adding the small packet to the deck, the number of face up cards then is (N-X) + X.  This is the same as X &#8211; X + N, which is equal to N.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Since <strong>N is the number written in the prediction<\/strong>, the trick <strong>always works perfectly<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Let&#8217;s say the magician predicts <strong>22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Spectator\u2019s Actions<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">They reverse <strong>X = 5 cards in one pile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">They reverse <strong>X = 5 cards in the second pile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The deck now has <strong>2X = 10 reversed cards<\/strong> in it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">They place one pile onto the deck for the magician, that part of the deck has <strong>X=5<\/strong> reversed cards.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Magician\u2019s Secret Move<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The magician <strong>takes &#8220;N = 22&#8221; cards off the top<\/strong> of the deck.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">In these 22 cards:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>X = 5 of them<\/strong> are face-up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>N &#8211; X = 22 &#8211; 5 = 17<\/strong> are face-down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The magician flips the entire block of <strong>22 cards<\/strong> over.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">El <strong>5 face-up cards<\/strong> become <strong>face-down<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">El <strong>17 face-down cards<\/strong> become <strong>face-up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Now the total number of face-up cards in the whole deck is: (N-X) + X = 17 + 5 = 22<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The spectator counts the reversed cards\u2014it matches the prediction (22)!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Summary of the Secret<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The spectator <strong>adds an even number of reversed cards (2X).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The magician <strong>removes N cards, containing X face-up and (N &#8211; X) face-down cards.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">When these <strong>N cards are flipped, the balance of face-up and face-down shifts<\/strong>, making the total reversed cards equal <strong>N<\/strong>, which matches the prediction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Final Thoughts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This principle is a <strong>beautiful use of hidden symmetry and parity control<\/strong>, a signature of Bob Hummer&#8217;s mathematical magic.
