I am sure that someone else has written about this, but here is my take on using that fact as a card control,

Spread the deck for a card to be looked at. Have the card returned to the spread and continue spreading the cards so you can take a break under six cards below the selection. Now double cut the deck so the selection is seventh from the bottom.

Now if you do an Out shuffle followed by two In shuffles the selection will be on top. Note that the first Out shuffle doesn’t need to be perfect. Only the bottom cards need to mesh perfectly. In addition, if you accidentally do an In shuffle, you can double cut the bottom card to the top before doing the second In shuffle. This shuffle puts the selection 13th from the bottom.

The second In shuffle moves the card to the top of the bottom half (position 27 if the top card is position 1). Here I will often do a face up spread to show that the selection is “lost” in the deck.

So for the final shuffle you just need to be able to cut the deck in half and do a faro check. The only card that needs to weave is the top card of the bottom half.

Instead of an In shuffle followed by an Out, you can do an Out followed by an In. This puts the selection at the 26th position instead of the 27th. This is useful for spotting the value of the card, or for bringing it to the bottom of the deck.

In playing with the Faro Shuffle simulator I noticed that it takes only three faro shuffles to move the card that is seventh from the bottom of the deck to the top.
