Computer systems I have worked on

IBM-1130

The first computer I worked on. Southern Oregon College had one for their housing dept. and needed someone to run it. This was in 1972.

Digital Equipment Dec System 10

The first time-shared, interactive system I worked on. User interface was a Tektronix Terminal.

Floating Point System's FPS 164.

Most of the FPS work I did was on the AP120B and the FPS 100. But I did some I/O work for the FPS 164. The programing language for most of the work was APAL, a highly parallel assembly language.

AP-120 and FPS-100

The FPS family of processors. The small one is the FPS 100, the one with the green racing stripe is the AP120-B.

Metheus Lambda 750

Color VLSI CAE workstation

The Heathkit H89 was the first personal computer I owned and built. It ran the CPM operating system, forerunner of DOS.

The Intel TFLOP Supercomputer

Most people don't realize that Intel once built supercomputers. This is the TFLOP machine, a one of a kind supercomputer Intel built for Sandia National Labs. Yes, all of those boxes are one interconnected computer.

The Compaq "Portable"

This was my second personal computer. "The Compaq computer is a portable unit that is fully compatible with the IBM PC, according to its developer, Compaq Computer Corporation. It has 128K bytes of random access memory, which can be expanded to 256K bytes on the main system board. It incorporates a 320K-byte, 5.25-inch floppy disk drive, with a slot for a second 320K-byte drive. Also included in the Compaq are a port for an RGB color video display, a port for composite video, a port for connection to a standard television set through an RF modulator, a parallel printer interface, and a socket for an Intel 8087 co-processor. An asynchronous communications interface is optional. The Compaq provides three hardware expansion slots, two more, says the company, than on comparably equipped IBM PCs."

IBM 360 Mainframe

This was the mainframe computer that I used in college. Punched card interface (026 and 029 keypunch machines).

PDP-11

One of the machines we used at Floating Point Systems.

Data General Nova 3

Another one of the machines we used at Floating Point Systems.

Prime Minicomputer

This was a competitor to the DEC VAX line. We used it at Floating Point Systems
